Wendell & Wild
Preface
Wendell & Wild is a 2022 American adult stop motion-animated horror comedy film directed by Henry Selick from a screenplay written by Selick and Jordan Peele (who are also producers), based on Selick's and Clay McLeod Chapman's unpublished book of the same name. It stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the titular characters, with Angela Bassett, Lyric Ross, James Hong, and Ving Rhames in supporting roles. [1] ¶
In preparation for the movie's release on Netflix, the Netflix in-house team asked that I design a logo and custom typeface for the film, taking cues from their pre-designed assets. ¶ Based on the triangular features of the characters, I developed a sharp, wedge-serif wordmark. From this wordmark, I developed a 'WW' monogram and eventually a minimal caricature of Wendell and Wild. ¶ Unfortunately, the Netflix team decided to use their in-house designs instead. Regardless of their decision, I was proud of my work, and I'm proud to share it here. ¶
